Areas to develop

  • 1Occasionally, staff are not successful in helping older children to manage their emotions and learn to interact appropriately with their friends, cooperating effectively.
  • 2Not all adult-led activities and routines in the younger age groups are thoroughly planned and implemented. At times, staff do not minimise distractions for their focused group times and ensure that daily routines are well-coordinated to fully support children's attention, engagement and learning.
  • 3Leaders do not ensure that senior staff have the confidence to lead the newer and less experienced staff in their team. This leads to inconsistencies in the teaching and support children receive.

After a difficult experience with a previous childcare provider, we were understandably nervous about placing our twins in a childcare setting again. From the moment we walked into Squiggles, we felt reassured. The nursery is light, spacious and welcoming, and the entire team are warm, positive and supportive. They genuinely make you feel comfortable and valued, and nothing ever feels like too much trouble. Our twins settled in incredibly quickly, which meant so much to us—especially as one of our boys was still crying at drop-off after three months at our previous provider, at which point we stopped attending altogether. The difference in care and approach has been clear from day one. Squiggles provides everything: meals, snacks, nappies, wipes and creams, which is a real help as a parent. The meals are home-cooked, nutritious and look like proper food, and the children are encouraged to feed themselves, just as we do at home. They also comfort and rock our twins to sleep, just as we do at home, which has meant they are sleeping well and settling easily. This level of individual care has made a big difference. The team are relaxed and accommodating. Our boys are clearly happy and well cared for, and we’ve had no issues with nappy rash at all, unlike at our previous childcare setting, which really shows the level of care given. We couldn’t be happier with Squiggles and feel completely reassured knowing our twins are in such a caring environment. I would highly recommend them to anyone and look forward to many years with them.
