About this day nursery

St John's Under 5's Pre-School, located in Bradford's Great Horton, offers a nurturing and safe learning environment for children aged 2, 3, and 4. Founded by St John's Church over three decades ago, the pre-school operates with a Christian ethos that welcomes children from all faiths and backgrounds, aiming to foster an exploration of faith from a young age.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) receive good support. The SEND coordinator works closely with parents and other professionals, ensuring children receive any extra help they need to progress well in their learning.

Outdoor space

Children drag wheeled toys up the grassy mound with determination. They sit on the bike and ride down the slope, learning to take risks. Children also step onto and over wooden logs and climb in trees with staff nearby for support, learning by trial and error.

EAL / language support

Staff support children who speak English as an additional language and those who are bilingual very well. They know the language that children speak at home and try to learn a few key words, and children show progress in their speaking skills by confidently naming small-world animals and using words in English and their home language in the same sentence.

One of the warmest schools ever! Teachers are great; very flexible and work so closely with the child and the parents to provide the best play and learning experience for the child. Really strongly recommend.
