Steady-Steps Pre-School in Gosport provides care for children aged from one to seven years. The pre-school accepts government funding for eligible children. At its inspection in February 2022, Ofsted judged the overall effectiveness to be 'Outstanding'. The inspector reported that children thrive at the pre-school, feel exceptionally safe and secure, and are highly motivated to learn.
Ofsted found that the support for children who require additional help is outstanding, with highly individualised plans and effective partnerships with external professionals. Children have access to an outdoor area which includes a forest space for riding bikes and climbing. The curriculum provides opportunities for children to develop a love of reading and to learn about the diversity of the wider world. The inspector also noted that learning experiences are extremely well-thought-out.

How they support every child
SEND provision
The support staff put in place for children who require additional help for their learning is outstanding. Highly individualised plans focus and build on what children can do. Staff form highly effective partnerships with external professionals, ensuring the very highest levels of consistency for children's care and learning. During the COVID-19 pandemic, staff have reflected on what gaps children have in their learning, and a highly innovative series of planned learning opportunities in small groups, and through individual support, have targeted the weaker areas. The support staff offer for children's communication and social skills is exceptional.
Outdoor space
The inspector observed the quality of education being provided indoors and outside and assessed the impact this was having on children's learning. Children can challenge themselves and take appropriate risks as they play, for example, climbing ladders to post balls and riding bikes over uneven ground in the forest area.
