Step by Step Children's Nursery offers flexible childcare for babies and children aged 7 months to 8 years, operating five days a week from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, year-round except for bank holidays and one week at Christmas. Established in January 2017 in Eastbourne's Old Town, the nursery expanded to Polegate in 2019, serving surrounding areas.
The nursery provides a nurturing and homely environment where children of mixed ages can develop existing skills, build confidence, and become sociable, preparing them for school. Both locations offer nutritious home-cooked meals, fostering social skills and independence.
The Eastbourne nursery on Victoria Drive boasts a large open space and is conveniently located near four schools. The Polegate nursery, a short walk from Polegate School and close to Willingdon and Hailsham Schools, shares the same nurturing ethos and opening hours.
Both nurseries feature baby areas, sensory equipment, and large gardens with climbing equipment, mud kitchens, and digging/planting areas. They have both recently received "Good" ratings from Ofsted.
The nursery encourages prospective families to contact Becky for a visit.

Inclusion & environment
Leaders and staff support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) well. They make timely referrals and work closely with parents and outside professionals. Leaders ensure targeted plans are implemented, so children receive early intervention.
Children enjoy being physically active in their play. For instance, children enjoy riding and washing the vehicles in the garden. The outside space inspires them to explore and use their imagination. For example, children enjoy working together to add ingredients as they create mud cakes and drinks in the mud kitchen.
Best Nursery. Supportive and Professional Team. Felt like an extension of family, helping raise our 2 Boys from Babies. They were both always excited to go. Highly Recommended.
Read on GoogleMy son currently attends the nursery and loves it. It doesn't matter what staff member comes the door to greet us, he will go in with open arms. He is learning a lot...eating and drinking independently at a young age, talking more each time he goes and is growing in confidence.
Read on GoogleGreat nursery, my daughter likes it there. nice weekly themes to aid development curiosity and confidence and communication. friendly and approachable staff. More of a personal touch then the local bigger chains.
