Storth House in Huddersfield provides a good standard of childcare for children aged 0-11 years, operating Monday to Friday, from 7am to 6pm, all year round. The nursery prides itself on creating an exciting and welcoming atmosphere where children eagerly engage with staff upon arrival, helping them to separate easily from parents and carers.
Children at Storth House display wonderful manners, sharing and taking turns in their play and happily encouraging their friends, fostering a safe and supportive environment. The curriculum is designed to support children's independence and perseverance, with accessible resources for all, including babies and children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).
Children requiring additional support benefit from a knowledgeable Special Educational Needs Coordinator who collaborates closely with key persons, families, and external agencies to ensure timely interventions and targeted assistance, leading to good progress in their learning and development. Outdoor learning is a key feature, with children enthusiastically participating in activities, such as counting tyres for their imaginary bus.
The nursery effectively promotes communication and language skills, with children enjoying reading books and discussing characters. Physical development is also a focus, with activities designed to prepare children for writing, such as using tweezers to develop their pincer grip.
Since its last inspection in 2021, Storth House has implemented many improvements to its practices, resulting in good progress for the children in their care. The nursery also provides an out-of-school club service before and after school, and during school holidays.
