Sunflower Day Nursery, established in 2010, provides a good standard of care and education for children aged 0–4 years, as rated by Ofsted on its latest inspection on 11th June 2024. The nursery operates all year round.
Babies and children are described as happy and excited to explore the play environment, supported by kind and nurturing staff who are skilled at managing children's emotions. Managers and staff tailor a curriculum to children's individual learning needs and interests, ensuring that all children make good progress.
This includes children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), for whom staff work closely with parents and other professionals to provide necessary support. The nursery fosters independence from a young age through activities like putting on coats and shoes, encouraging sharing, turn-taking, respect, and decision-making.
Children speaking English as an additional language (EAL) receive good support, with staff actively engaging parents to incorporate home languages. Outdoor learning is a key feature; children have numerous opportunities to play outside, including walks to a local nature reserve to learn about nature, and hunting for creatures, digging, and planting in the nursery garden.
Parents are very positive, noting that their children are eager to attend and praising the communication and individual support received from staff.

Sunflower Day Nursery registered in 2010. The nursery opens Monday to Friday, from 8am until 6pm, for 51 weeks of the year. There are 13 members of childcare staff. Nine staff hold early years qualifications at level 3 and the manager holds early years professional status. The nursery provides funded early education for two-, three- and four-year-old children.
