About this day nursery

Apricot Day Nursery, situated in the heart of St Neots, offers a nurturing environment focused on holistic child development, preparing children for school through cognitive, social, and physical growth. The nursery prides itself on an intimate setting, allowing staff to build strong partnerships with families to meet individual needs.

Following the Montessori approach, children engage in play-based learning led by a passionate team who tailor activities to individual interests. The nursery operates across two sites, with a dedicated Pre-School setting a short walk away for when children are ready for the next step.

Each of the three rooms benefits from its own age-appropriate outdoor play area, promoting exploration and connection with nature. Equipped with natural resources, the rooms encourage independence and skill-building.

The curriculum is enriched with programmes like "Next Stop School" to ensure a smooth transition to primary education, and extra-curricular clubs covering cookery, movement, art, music, gardening, and science. The nursery prioritises clear communication with parents, safety, on-site freshly prepared meals catering to dietary needs, and a key person approach to support each child and family.

The nursery is open 51 weeks a year, from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm, offering full-day, early start, and late finish options.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

The arrangements to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are effective. Although the setting is in the process of recruiting a full-time special educational needs coordinator, there are appropriate interim arrangements in place. Staff work closely with parents and other professionals to ensure that children receive early help at the earliest opportunity.

Outdoor space

The creation of the 'indoor/outdoor' area has provided children with a stimulating space where they can develop their physical skills and explore nature through planting activities. Although there is no designated outdoor play area, all children have daily opportunities to go on outings to explore the outdoors.

After visiting the nursery this week I would like to share it was simply wonderful. So many happy engaged children, exploring, having fun and clear to see they have strong bonds with the staff team. You know children are happy when they are giggling with each other and the staff! There was so much on offer, the Spanish teacher was there and the children loved their session. Budding chefs cookery activities, walks in the local area and a sports session each week. A great place to feel secure, inspired and grow. Can't wait to visit again.

Such a lovely nursery and team, with some long standing and new staff. The children enjoy their time here and are forever sharing with me all about Dinosaurs and the wonderful cooking they do each week. The baby room is really busy and the children are content. The nursery has a new management team who makes lots of wonderful changes, listen to ideas and feedback on how to make it even better. 😀

This place is honestly a hidden gem in the heart of Peckham! The staff and management take every child in to careful consideration and plan for their individual needs in order to develop to their fullest potential. The rooms are clean, organised and set out with every child in mind. All children seem to be more than happy to attend daily. There social media content really gives a great insight in to the daily life of the nursery and clearly shows how great this place is!

A particular member of staff that works here doesn’t deserve to work with children, such a bully. Such a shame for the rest of the amazing people I met here especially the male manager.
