About this day nursery

The Avenues Nursery with Kids Club, established in 1997, offers childcare for children aged 6 weeks to 11 years. The nursery is composed of various rooms designed to cater to the developmental requirements of each child, with a strong focus on meeting individual needs.

They adhere to current government regulations and guidelines to provide high-quality care for children and their families. The nursery values parental involvement, encouraging participation through workshops and charity events, and maintaining regular communication via newsletters and Facebook.

Staff members are highly qualified, with a minimum of Level 3 Early Years childcare qualification and paediatric first aid training. The facilities boast bright and colourful rooms, age-appropriate toys, specially designed indoor and outdoor play areas, and iPads to support learning.

The nursery promotes a philosophy that children are naturally curious and aims to foster this through experiences that encourage investigation, social interaction, creativity, and development. They also provide a school pick-up and drop-off service and offer full or part-time day care during school holidays, details of which can be found in the Kids Club section.

The nursery is located a short distance from the city centre and offers free places for 3 and 4-year-olds.

How they support every child

SEND provision

The knowledgeable and passionate special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) knows children's needs well. Communication is effective within the team, ensuring concerns are brought to the attention of the SENCo and parents quickly. Staff have a wealth of knowledge and put strategies in place straight away to ensure that children's gaps in development close quickly. The SENCo has good links with outside agencies, who are invited into the nursery to support children and staff.

Outdoor space

Outdoors, children are thrilled to have opportunities to play in the large sandpit or mix and pour in the mud kitchen. Furthermore, children have ample opportunities to practise and build on their large-muscle skills and coordination, taking part in physical activities such as using bicycles and cars and role play on the garden stage.

I've had an excellent experience with all age groups and Kids Club, sending both of my children to Avenues Nursery over the years. All staff are very caring, professional and have good communication with parents. They've recently introduced a new parents app, that provides even more ease for communication and information sharing.

My child has attended the setting full time for almost 3 years now and we have been very pleased with the decision we've made. This is a supportive, loving and fun environment for little ones! We've always felt that we are leaving our child in good hands, as safety and safeguarding are top priorities for management and staff. The setting is absolutely beautiful, natural materials are preferred in all classrooms and the garden is vast and amazingly equipped so that children can benefit from playing outside no matter the weather. The staff are very caring and understanding and try their absolute best to meet each child's individual needs. They organise interesting age-appropriate activities for learning all sorts of things and do a lot of work to promote independence. There are 3-monthly "stay and play" sessions organised for parents to attend and find out more about how children spend their day at the setting. My child has loved going there on a daily basis and has developed and learnt so much. He adores his nursery teachers and has built beautiful relationships with them. They are doing an amazing job and they deserve to be recognised for it. We've appreciated also that the nursery is kept very clean. We definitely recommend this nursery :)

Staff are friendly and attentive, supervisors/ managers however are aggressive, rude and confrontational. Not a good combination of qualities for looking after small children. I'd stay clear.
