The Granary Day Nursery, established in 2022, is a welcoming childcare setting located in Lincoln, offering care for children aged 0-4 years. 45am to 6pm, the nursery provides a good quality of education and personal development, as noted in its latest Ofsted inspection on 20 May 2024, which rated the overall effectiveness as Good.
Children at The Granary Day Nursery enjoy their time, quickly settling in and forming warm relationships with staff. The curriculum is designed to build on children's emerging interests, incorporating new vocabulary and concepts, as seen when staff explained the metamorphosis of caterpillars into butterflies.
The nursery promotes physical development with various opportunities for muscle strength and coordination, both indoors and out. While indoor activities are well-planned, the outdoor provision is an area for ongoing development to ensure a consistently rich learning experience for all children.
Staff are good role models, fostering independence, sharing, manners, and routines. The Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo) ensures children with special educational needs and/or disabilities receive appropriate support.
The nursery also focuses on developing children's fine motor skills, essential for early writing, and introduces early mathematical concepts like counting, colours, sizes, and shapes.

Inclusion & environment
The special educational needs coordinator spoke to the inspector about how they support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
Children have multiple opportunities to develop their muscle strength and coordination skills in the outdoor space. However, staff do not always plan and provide the same level of rich learning experiences outdoors, which means some children do not fully engage in outdoor play.
My little boy has attended The Granary since he was 9 months old, he is now 21/2. He is so well looked after by all staff, he loves attending. They do so many different activities with the children! My son particularly loves all of the outdoor activities and especially loves all of the animals that are present at the nursery. Couldn’t think of a better place for him to attend. Thankyou for always taking such great care of him!
