About this day nursery

The Hollies Pre-School, located in Poynton, offers a nurturing environment for children aged 2 and above, providing care from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. The pre-school follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, implementing a dynamic curriculum centred on children's play, interests, and experiences.

Activities are planned on a half-termly basis, with flexibility to adapt to the children's evolving interests. Staff members actively support children through both adult-led and child-initiated play.

Weekly "focus groups" are conducted by key persons for older children to prepare them for "big school," while "cub groups" cater to younger children, emphasising prime areas of learning and developing social and communication skills in a dedicated 2-year-old room. Children have continuous access to both indoor and outdoor spaces, with diverse activities that are regularly changed.

The pre-school also utilises the Lower Park school field for outdoor exploration. Healthy snacks and drinks are provided at a cafe during morning and afternoon sessions.

For lunch, children can bring a packed lunch or purchase a hot meal from the Lower Park kitchen. The Hollies Pre-School is committed to fostering self-discipline and self-esteem within a respectful and encouraging atmosphere, prioritising the personal, social, and emotional needs of every child.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff identify and support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities within the pre-school. They allow children the time and space they need to settle into the pre-school, allowing them to get a true picture of when children may need a little more support. Staff make referrals in a timely manner and work collaboratively with multi-agencies to gain the correct support for children.

Outdoor space

Outdoor learning is a key feature in all children's daily routine. Staff plan free flow between inside and outside to allow children to make their own choices, promoting children's physical development well by encouraging them to use crates to stack, climb, and balance in the garden.
