About this day nursery

30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, closing only for bank holidays and one week at Christmas. Achieving a rating of "Good" in its latest Ofsted inspection on 21st February 2024, the nursery prioritises developing a love of books in all children, an aspect particularly evident in the toddler room where children excitedly act out stories.

For children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), the nursery provides strong support; staff learn and utilise sign language for communication, and the manager works closely with parents to allocate additional funding effectively, such as for books to enhance language development and equipment to build core strength. The nursery also fosters independence and risk-management skills.

" Transitions to school are also carefully managed, with staff visiting schools children will attend and helping children become familiar with new routines, like lunchtime setup, to support their emotional well-being.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are supported well by staff. For example, staff learn sign language and use this to communicate with children. The manager liaises with children's parents to help to identify how to use additional funding that their children receive, which is spent on purchasing books to support children's language development and on equipment to help to develop children's core strength.

Outdoor space

Children are supported to identify and manage risks in the environment. For instance, staff ask children in the pre-school room to carry out safety checks in the garden to help to identify potential hazards. Children tell visitors that they are looking for 'weeds and animal poo'.

We couldn’t be happier with the care and development our daughter has received at Hunny Bear Day Nursery. Starting in the baby room and now transitioning to preschool, every step of her journey here has been outstanding. The staff are incredibly caring, supportive, and dedicated—not just to the children but to the parents as well. It’s clear that they genuinely love what they do, creating a nurturing and engaging environment that has helped our daughter thrive. The team has consistently gone above and beyond to ensure her individual needs are met, fostering her confidence, learning, and social skills. We truly couldn’t have picked a better nursery and are so grateful for everything they’ve done for our family. Highly recommend!

We have been using this nursery for the last 5 years and have one child that has now left for school and one still there. Our experience with the nursery has been amazing and we are very thankful for the school readiness that they provided to my eldest, he settled straight into school. They both developed so much whilst also having a lovely time with their friends and have always been happy to go to the Hunny Bear. We have always felt happy handing them over knowing that they will be safe, happy and well cared for. All the staff are amazing and we feel we made the best decision when choosing this nursery!

My daughter has been attending The Hunny Bear since she was one and absolutely loves it. Her development came on so quickly once she attended and has continued to do so. The staff in each room she has been in have been so supportive and caring, we can tell they really want the best for her. The staff and management have also always been really helpful and proactive when we’ve needed support or questions. We will be sending our second daughter when she turns one too as we know she will be so well cared for.

My little boy has attended the Hunny Bear from 7 months old, all the way up to him starting school this year. Throughout his time there, he progressed so well and that was down to the staff within the rooms. There was a lot of worry as he started nursery during Covid but the app made it so much easier for me to leave him as I got updates throughout the day about how he’d been getting on as well as lots of photos. It really was a home from home and the staff cared for him like their own. I was even impressed at how well he developed his name writing and phonics skills, which showed when starting school this year! I can’t wait to start sending him to the holiday club too as he is looking forward to coming again.

Both my children attend Hunny Bears Day Nursery. I am happy to drop them off in the morning, knowing they are safe, happy and having lots of fun with the lovely activities the setting plans for them. I love that I received little updates throughout the day via the parent app, giving me reassurance that my little ones are okay and happy. The staff are very smiley and welcoming.
