How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff support all children to become engaged and independent in their learning, especially children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Children with SEND make strong progress because staff use tailored plans to aid each unique individual. Parents are incredibly appreciative of the consistent support they receive from staff, especially those with SEND children.

Outdoor space

Children discuss and plan how to manoeuvre big resources, such as scaffolding planks and crates, to make bridges. They laugh together on the swing and talk about the books they have read in hammocks. Children discuss their day trips to their forest school, what they have built and the insects they have identified. Older children manoeuvre pallets, tyres and ladders to climb, balance and race. Older children begin writing letters and paint butterflies they have seen in the garden.

We only viewed The Nest when looking for a nursery for our daughter, As well as being Ofsted Outstanding, the children looked so happy and settled when we visited. The nursery has a lovely small, calm environment that never feels crowded, and the staff are wonderful, showing genuine care for our daughter. She is always happy to see any of them, and loves her key worker, Sheree. We love the great variety of activities that our daughter gets to experience and we also really appreciate that they don't rely on lengthy daily app updates. Their time is spent genuinely engaging with the children. We can see daily how much our daughter's development has accelerated since starting here, because of how much they encourage her, and her independence. She also eats such a great range of healthy, home-cooked food. We couldn't be happier with our choice and would highly recommend The Nest.

The Nest Nursery has been perfect for us over the last three years and provides a really friendly and supportive environment. All the staff are fantastic - genuinely caring for my son’s development through encouraging curiosity, music, stories and play. They also offer him kindness and a hug if he’s not feeling up to much at the start of the day. We get regular updates on how he’s progressing at the end of each day. There is also continual development in the setting, bringing as much nature as possible inside and encouraging the children into the garden when the weather allows. It really feels a home from home which puts my mind at ease leaving him there while I’m at work. Highly recommended and we’ll miss the Nest when he leaves to start school in September.

Our little boy started in September and absolutely loves it! We were lucky that we managed to look around pre Covid and so could get a feel for the place. It’s an environment that is safe for them to explore but is also ‘real’ and not full of garish plastic toys! The staff are all lovely and seem to enjoy working there, the meals are freshly cooked on site and mean that you don’t need to worry too much about what to give them in an evening! They do so much to keep them stimulated and I think it’s been great for our son’s development.
