The Cornerhouse Private Day Nursery, located in Harborne, Birmingham, provides a nurturing "home from home" environment for children. The nursery prides itself on its close relationships with families, with key persons offering daily updates on children's learning and development, including meal times, nap schedules, and weekly observations via the Famly app.
Children's progress is formally assessed every three months, followed by reviews with parents to discuss development and home support. The nursery encourages outdoor activities in all weather, suggesting parents provide appropriate attire like wet suits and Wellington boots.
A flexible settling-in approach is offered, including three one-hour sessions, with parents encouraged to attend the first to meet the team and discuss their child's needs. The Cornerhouse aims to foster exploration through a variety of messy play activities to prepare children for school.
The nursery also strives to accommodate emergency childcare requests when needed.

Inclusion & environment
Staff adapt their approach and the resources to support those children who need more support to communicate. They use visuals and actions to reinforce language. This enables all children to acquire the language and skills they need to become confident communicators.
Older children have previously grown sunflowers and strawberries. Staff have left the decaying plants in the garden so that children can observe the changes over time. Staff encourage children to develop peer relationships through all-age play in the garden.
I seriously couldn’t ask for a better nursery. My daughter went there few years ago. And my son has been there for last year. And my youngest is due to start in September. He’s absolutely loved it and loves the staff. They’re truly amazing. And he’s developed so much in 12 months and he’s grown so much confidence. Highly recommend this nursery
Read on GoogleMy son has thrived during his time at The Cornerhouse Nursery. The nursery staff are exceptional and have a genuine care for the children and their families. The children form strong friendships as their social development, as well as physical and intellectual development, is encouraged. The nursery is well provisioned and makes great use of the classroom and outdoor spaces available. The meals and snacks are nutritious and varied with the children occasionally baking and enjoying cake or biscuits for special occasions such as Birthdays, Christmas, etc. As a parent I feel connected to my son's development and daily activities through feedback at pick up along with written updates and photographs shared via the Family app. The nursery run occasional outings for the children (park, library, farm, nature center etc.) and bring activities such as French lessons, egg hatching etc. to the nursery. I'd highly recommend the Cornerhouse to any parent looking for a local nursery.
