The Orchard Community Pre-School, established in 1986, operates from a building originally funded by its parents and carers, situated behind Milford Village Hall on land leased from Waverley Borough Council. The facility has undergone several expansions, including a significant one in 1999 that added an extra room and a 2010 project that introduced disability-friendly ramp access, a new porch, and an office.

This latter development allowed the former office space to be repurposed as a quiet room for the children, further enhancing the learning environment. The pre-school boasts an attractive garden, a playground, and a covered outdoor play area, equipped with diverse resources for both indoor and outdoor activities.

It is registered with OFSTED and is a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance, which provides support in areas such as insurance and staff training. The pre-school emphasises a warm and supportive atmosphere, with dedicated staff who are passionate about their work.

They are also committed to supporting children with additional needs and their families through various processes such as diagnosis and EHCP applications. The nurturing environment fosters inclusivity and celebrates each child individually, creating a close-knit, family-like community.

Pricing & funding

Fees are structured around hourly rates for additional sessions, categorised by age groups (under 2s, 2-3 years, and 3-4 years). Extra charges apply for early starts, after-school care, daily meals, and nursery-provided consumables like nappies and sun cream.

Can’t recommend orchard preschool enough! Both my children spent their preschool years here and absolutely loved it. Staring orchard they were very much in their shell, very shy and needed an adult near them, not long after they were jumping wall to wall, more independent and bubbly! They really went above and beyond to make sure my children were comfortable, happy and safe!

This is by far the most nurturing and loving pre school in the area. The staff are amazing, 2 of my sons have had an amazing time being there. I would recommend this pre school to anyone who wants there children to be loved and looked after by an amazing team. Thank you all at the Orchard.

Brilliant pre school! Staff are all friendly and approachable and my son loves being there! He has made some great friends, loves being in the garden and developmentally he has come on leaps and bounds! Every member of staff know all the children so well and cater to all their individual needs. Couldn't be happier with our choice of pre school, it's because of them that our son is fully prepared for his next chapter at big school :)

A great nursery. Caring and experienced staff who the children love. A really lovely and safe-feeling environment with lots of outdoor space and plenty of opportunity to use that space. We moved our son here to be closer to his big brother's school. He was at a much pricier daycare setting and is a million times happier here. We're very happy with our decision.
