About this day nursery

The Peaks Preschool, known as Buxton Nursery, provides a stimulating environment for children aged three months to five years. 5 to 5 years, fostering a "free play" approach where children can explore both indoor and outdoor spaces.

Activities include creative and messy play, construction, storytelling, number games, and mark-making. They have an upstairs reading area and varied role-play opportunities to encourage imaginative play.

Small group learning and daily circle time, songs, and story sessions are also incorporated. The curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage, focusing on seven areas of learning, with activities tailored to individual developmental stages.

The nursery offers a rolling snack system to minimise disruption and supports children's transition to school, including the option for children to have lunch in the school hall. The staff team includes a Director, Deputy Manager, Pre-school Supervisor, SENCO, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, and Key Persons.

How they support every child

SEND provision

The manager supports staff in their professional development, with some staff undertaking training to support children's communication and language development. As a result, staff feel more confident in identifying areas where children may need additional help, which informs the planning of appropriate activities and strategies.

Outdoor space

Children use their core muscles to balance on a wooden plank held between two tyres. Additionally, they confidently climb to the top of the outdoor steps and take great pleasure in jumping off.
