About this day nursery

The Playhouse in Nottingham, established in 2023, offers a nurturing and inclusive environment for children aged 0-7 years, operating all year round from 7 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday. The nursery prides itself on its strong EYFS curriculum, which prioritises communication and language development.

Leaders and staff are highly committed to providing tailored support, particularly for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), ensuring they thrive academically, socially, and emotionally through personalised learning plans and adapted resources. The setting fosters a strong sense of belonging, where children feel secure and valued, actively participating in a rich play-based curriculum.

Parents describe The Playhouse as "like a family," praising the dedicated staff and the regular communication that supports learning both at nursery and home. There are calm, cosy spaces equipped with lights and textures to meet sensory needs, and additional funding is used to provide enrichment activities for disadvantaged children.

While outdoor play is encouraged, the setting is working on enhancing its physical development curriculum, including improving how outdoor resources are used. The Playhouse continually strives for high-quality education, with leaders identifying and addressing areas for development to ensure every child can reach their full potential.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Leaders and staff ensure that all children, especially those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, receive carefully tailored support to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Individual needs are identified quickly through baseline assessments and ongoing monitoring, allowing for early and precise interventions. Leaders actively remove barriers to learning through small-group support, personalised learning plans, adapted resources, and environmental adjustments, including quiet, cosy spaces with lights and textures for sensory needs. They also use additional funding to support disadvantaged children to access the full curriculum.

Outdoor space

Children cooperate in outdoor obstacle course activities, moving tyres safely and listening to each other's ideas to achieve their goals. However, wearing wellies for outdoor play in all weathers can restrict movement, making climbing and pedalling more challenging.

Thank you to all at the playhouse nursery for giving our daughter the best experience since she has started. All staff are amazing and our daughter loves going, even if she does only go once a week. Our daughter adores you all and she has made some friends. Definitely the best decision we have made. We are looking forward to seeing you again in the new year. Merry christmas to you all!🎄xx

Our baby girl started at the Playhouse 3 months ago. As first time parents, it was tricky deciding on what would be the best nursery for her. We chose the Playhouse because the staff's genuine passion for childcare shone through and we liked the homely vibe. We've been very happy with our choice. Our daughter seems to really enjoy her days, it's clear to see that she's bonded with staff and she comes home happy and fulfilled from a positive day of play! :)

We have been very impressed with the Playhouse day nursery. Our 3 year old loves attending and has a great relationship with all of the staff. He has grown in confidence since being here. The staff are all friendly and there is a nice family feel to the nursery. Everyday is filled with age appropriate activities including visiting the local area. My little one really enjoys the outdoor space which they have access to daily. We have recommended this nursery to various and family 😊

The Playhouse is such a fantastic nursery. The staff are so friendly and really do give the nursery a brilliant family feel. My child settled in so quickly there and I credit the staff for making him feel so at ease. Communication is excellent and the developmental activities they engage the children in are excellent. I decided to move my child from a previous setting to The Playhouse and it was the best decision I made! Highly recommend.

My little boy has been attending the playhouse for 5 months since he was a year old. He has settled in so well and really enjoys going to nursery now. We can see how much fun he has and how much he has developed, which is a testament to how great the staff are. Laura in particular is fabulous as my son's key person.
