About this day nursery

The Sunshine Day Nursery, a family-operated establishment since October 2001, provides high-quality childcare and education across three locations in the local area: O’Neill Drive, Seascape, and Dene House. The nurseries are dedicated to creating a friendly and stimulating environment, fostering warm relationships between staff and children, and encouraging positive social interactions.

They prioritise a safe setting with purpose-built facilities, bright rooms, stimulating play equipment, and age-appropriate toys, all with easy wheelchair access and security systems. The nursery emphasises outdoor play for its positive impact on children's development, offering opportunities for large-scale activities and nature exploration.

They implement a key person approach to ensure children form strong attachments, settle well, and have their individual learning needs met. The curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, combining structured adult-led activities with child-initiated play to make learning both educational and fun, preparing children for school and future successes within a happy, active, and secure environment.

Our ethos

At all of our nurseries we ensure that families are offered the highest quality of care and education for their children and we have a dedicated team of practitioners who are qualified, fully experienced and highly committed to providing play and learning opportunities for all the children in our care. A friendly atmosphere is created within our nurseries, based on warm and caring relationships between our staff and the children, and positive social interactions are encouraged throughout the nursery day. We believe that being outdoors has a positive impact on children and offers opportunities for doing things on a larger scale. It gives children first hand contact with the weather and with nature and it offers them freedom to explore. At Sunshine Day Nursery, we believe that learning should be stimulating for young children, so play times are educational as well as fun.
