Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities and children who face barriers to their learning are set high-quality, specific and measurable targets that are regularly reviewed to ensure they achieve the best possible outcomes. The setting regularly seeks advice from their local authority area special educational needs coordinator, and staff are given opportunities for regular training on inclusion. The setting is fully inclusive and uses heightened staff ratios to ensure all children are effectively supported. The setting is aware of funding that is available to them for eligible children and supports families to ensure children receive their full entitlements.

Outdoor space

The free-flow garden area provides children with all day opportunities for fresh air and exercise. Planting opportunities teach children where their food comes from and how to care for nature.

EAL / language support

Teaching is finely tuned to ensure it meets the needs of all children, including children who speak English as an additional language. Leaders should continue to focus on creating a transformational impact on the outcomes and experiences of children who speak English as an additional language.

We feel so fortunate our daughter had a place at The Village Montessori for the eighteen months before she started school. She was happy and thrived in this environment. The setting is great, particularly the garden, and as parents we always felt welcomed and included. Beyond the Montessori itself, there’s a wonderful community; we met families we’re still close with today. I also valued the evening events, both social gatherings and sessions on the Montessori approach, which taught me so much about supporting my daughter’s development at home. It was exactly the right fit for her, and I hope we secure a place for our son to start as soon as he can!

As an early years practitioner, psychotherapist and a mother I dear to say that The Village Montessori is the best place for children after their homes! I was picky when I was choosing a nursery for my son. It took me a while! And before I found the Village Montessori I didn’t I didn’t even believe anymore that a place like this exists! It is not just a nursery! It gave him some valuable skills for life, encouraged his confidence, independence, curiosity and love for learning! It gave my husband and I a community and now 2 years later it still feels like a family! The teachers are amazing! Confident, experienced, calm, kind and so supportive in every way you could imagine! Honestly if more nurseries/ schools were like the Village Montessori the world would have been a better place!

Both my children attended the Village Montessori, the youngest finishing only last year, and it was such an impactful foundational environment for the children and for us as parents. It is indeed more than a nursery; it is a community and a commitment to building lifelong skills that help children become who they are meant to be, in the most wonderful way. They get to engage in practical life skills, in a prepared environment tailored just to them. The nursery has it's own little enclosed garden, and the children love being outdoors, digging and planting and making obstacle courses. The teachers convey a very confident, calm demeanour and demonstrate their many years of experience in the way they nurture each and every child. This was more than childcare; it was an investment in my child's development that is still paying dividends.

All three of my children have been fortunate enough to attend The Village Montessori. I cannot quite put into words the amazing community that Mel and her team having created. A cocoon of child-led excellence and such an amazing foundation for the children who attend. Mel is an incredible person who is passionate about early years, families and the wider community. I couldn’t recommend it more and it helped each of my children develop confidence and independence.

Best nursery around. The teachers are amazing and the change you will see in your kids is amazing. After Mel giving me a few pointers my child can solve a sudoku;*) They offer classes for younger children once a week and after that I'm sure you will be a believer in Montessori method.
