The Wonder Years, located in Bromley Common, focuses on nurturing children during their formative years by creating an environment that blends the personalised care of childminding with a structured pre-school experience. They prioritise knowing each child individually, catering to their unique personality, interests, and learning style, with Cultural Capital at the core of their approach.
The nursery aims to instil values such as fairness, respect, empathy, and community within a caring and inclusive setting. Kindness and politeness are central to the children's development, alongside an emphasis on environmental consciousness.
They strive to create a safe yet challenging environment where children can be curious, confident, and creative while taking appropriate risks. The curriculum is designed to support learning and development across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), incorporating various activities like creative arts, early writing, mathematical development, imaginative play, social skill-building, practical life skills, and extensive outdoor learning.
Enrichment activities such as yoga, Zumba, Forest School, and Spanish are also offered, alongside regular educational outings that tie into monthly topics.
Our ethos
Our vision is to create a social environment where we can offer the best bits from childminding (home-from-home care and nurturing) while combining it with a more structured approach for 2-4 year olds. This gives them a pre-school experience, as well as the care we know is sometimes missing from a pre-school or nursery environment. Children can get lost in the crowd so our approach is to know every child inside out, putting Cultural Capital at the forefront of everything we do and catering for children's individual needs, based on their personality, interests and learning style. Our ethos is one where fairness, respect, empathy and sense of community are nurtured within a caring and inclusive environment. We want to encourage kindness in a world where kindness and understanding is ever more needed. Politeness, manners and positive behaviour is at the heart of everything we do. We want to encourage children to be conscious about their environment from the very start of their lives. To be thoughtful about their impact on their planet and to take steps to protect it. We want children to feel safe enough to be curious, confident, creative learners able to take risks in a challenging environment

The nursery is absolutely brilliant! The staff are incredibly kind, approachable, and always full of joy. My son attended for nearly two years, and during that time he gained so much—he grew in confidence, learned a lot, and was always excited to go in every day with a big smile. I am truly grateful to all the staff for their care and dedication. The professionalism and the way they engage with the children is outstanding. I honestly cannot recommend Wonder Year enough. Thank you so much for everything!
Read on GoogleOur son has recently finalised his time with The Wonder Years, and it has been immeasurably valuable. The staff have felt like family members to us. They cared for our son like he was their own, and filled his life with trips, adventures, learning experiences, and really rocketed his development forward. I am convinced Kate, Rebecca, Poppy and all of their wonderful staff have taken him to new heights in terms of his development. To drop your child off and see them race in the door eager to see everybody isn't just incredible for the child, but it is so calming for working parents. Their use of the famly app to update us with all of his adventures is perfect, and a nice supplement to his enthused attempts to tell us about his day, and draw his staff and friends. Choosing The Wonder Years is one of the best decisions we ever made, and we will miss everybody.
Read on GoogleWe have been so happy with our experience at The Wonder Years. Our little boy loves it there and having him excited to go in makes our mornings so much more relaxed. Every day there seems to be different! They plan an amazing range of activities (that we would never think of) every day that are not only fun, but focus on their monthly topics and early learning goals. He attends part time but, in the days that he is there, he has Spanish lessons, Sports and Forest School in addition to all the brilliant things that the staff plan everyday. The trips (like visiting a farm) and larger activities (like having the fire brigade visit) are always fantastic and we're left in awe of what they manage to do with the children. We've been really happy with the communication, particularly the photos that get sent each week - we find that they really help our little one talk to us about what he has been doing. It's obvious that the staff really care about the children and take the time to get to know them all individually. It’s really wonderful to feel confident that he is so cared for and happy there. We really can't recommend The Wonder Years enough!
Read on GoogleOur daughter has been doing 2 days a week since The Wonder Years, first at Tracey’s home then at the nursery once she turned 2. She’s always loved going and we’re so pleased with the experiences she’s had - little trips are often organised and there are regular visits from exiting visitors kids love - animals, police, doctors, the fire brigade, bus trips etc so the kids can learn about daily life and our daughter loves the sports day. We chose the Wonder Years as we liked the idea of the kids being outdoors as much as possible and getting to grips with nature. Our daughter has loved being around Tracey’s animals and playing in the large grounds of the nursery. Overall, we’re really pleased we chose The Wonder Years, they have done wonders for our daughter’s social skills and learning, and she skips through the door - that’s all you can hope for !
Read on GoogleThe Wonder Years took on our son after his preschool closed completely unexpectedly. We had visited several other settings before seeing the Wonder Years and hadn't felt happy with any of them. Tracey and Kate immediately put us at ease and made us feel welcome and we just knew that we could trust them to look after our son. Ellie and Lydia work tirelessly to ensure that the children are provided with a range of stimulating activities, including outings and visits from special visitors. My son was beside himself when he got to meet some police dogs and sit in a police van! They've been incredibly patient and kind with my son who found the sudden transition quite challenging. I've seen him come on leaps and bounds with his phonics and communication in the very short time he's been there and he's also bought home some wonderful creative work. The staff work really hard to get to know each child as an individual and this has been reflected in the detailed and very accurate end of term report that we've received. Thank you so much again for all your support during this time - we only wish that we had found the Wonder Years earlier on for our son. x
