Thurston Childcare, established in 2021, operates all year round from 7:30 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday, closing only for bank holidays and one week in December. This recently built setting, located within the grounds of its host school, caters for children aged 1 to 10 years.
The staff expertly use the various inviting areas to maximise learning and enjoyment, providing a welcoming and engaging environment. The curriculum is meticulously planned, broad, varied, and challenging, informed by precise and regular assessments of each child's development.
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) receive highly individualised and effective support, with clear plans developed in partnership with parents and seamlessly integrated into their day by all staff. Children benefit from a wealth of new experiences, including outdoor learning opportunities, and demonstrate confidence in their learning and interactions.
The setting fosters strong bonds between children and staff, with daily dedicated key person time in small groups for focused teaching. This outstanding provision ensures children thrive, supported by highly qualified staff who are deeply knowledgeable about early childhood education.

Where children are not working at the levels expected for their age and stage of development, staff put in place clear, concise and highly effective plans together with parents. All staff understand these plans, and seamlessly incorporate the extra support that children need into their day.
