About this day nursery
Kids Planet Headingley, previously known as Tiny Tree Day Nursery, is situated just outside Leeds city centre in the Woodhouse area. This nursery provides a stimulating and well-appointed environment for children to learn and play, featuring expansive indoor spaces and secure outdoor play areas, including a small woodland.
The nursery places a strong emphasis on outdoor play, using natural settings to encourage children's exploration, confidence, and independence. Inside, the rooms are thoughtfully designed to foster children's development within a nurturing and stimulating atmosphere.
Kids Planet Headingley is recognised for its high standards of care, ensuring a safe and supportive environment where children can thrive and prepare for each stage of their early years journey. The manager, Kim Harrison, holds a BA (Hons) in Childhood, Youth and Early Years and is a qualified Early Years Teacher, passionate about supporting children's growth and potential.

- The managers and staff are committed to providing the best possible care and education for all children. The strong key-person system is firmly embedded, supporting children's emotional well-being and helping them to form secure attachments.
- The manager uses additional funding effectively, providing specific resources relevant to children's individual needs, resulting in vulnerable children making good progress.
- Staff plan a broad range of activities that aim to ignite children's interest, and during adult-led activities, they provide good-quality interactions and support, such as helping pre-school children learn Spanish and developing an awareness of rhythm and rhyme.
- Children are confident communicators, including those who speak English as an additional language, because staff focus on communication and language, model correct sentence construction, ask questions, and introduce alternative words.
- Children enjoy listening to stories, can answer simple questions about characters, and develop positive attitudes towards reading. Babies and toddlers enjoy making marks, and older children learn to recognise and practise writing their names.
- Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) receive tailored support to help them make progress, with the manager and staff identifying needs through observations and assessments, and working with parents and other professionals.
- All children learn how to keep themselves healthy, with staff promoting good hygiene practices and providing daily access to the outdoors for physical skills practice, positively promoting their physical well-being.
- Partnerships with parents are a key strength, with strong, trusting, and informative relationships built, and parents commenting on effective communication and satisfaction with care and learning.

How they support every child
SEND provision
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) have tailored support to help them make progress. The manager and staff identify children with SEND through their observations and assessments. They work with parents and other professionals to meet the needs of the children together. If formal plans are needed, these are completed in time for children to move on to the next stage in their learning.
Outdoor space
Children enjoy daily access to the outdoors, where they practise their physical skills. For example, older children stretch and jump to warm their bodies up, throw beanbags into hoops, and practice their throwing and catching skills. This positively promotes their physical well-being.

Absolutely incredible nursery because of the staff who work tirelessly to ensure every child has the best experience. I can’t recommend the nursery enough! My son is now 2 and really enjoys every minute due to the enriching activities and kindness and dedication of the staff. I have been to 2 of the stay and play sessions and I am thrilled at how they are preparing children for life beyond nursery. Food is fantastic due to the amazing cooking staff. They build knowledge of different cultures through themes and foods also. I couldn’t be happier and so is my son. Thank you Tiny Tree!
