Todmorden Nursery, known as Our Woodlands Nursery, is nestled close to the park and at the heart of Todmorden, offering a unique setting built within the woods behind the main school. It provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere with a dedicated team, including an experienced full-time teacher.

The day nursery caters to children aged 2 to 4 years, divided into two rooms: "Bunnies" for 2-3 year olds and "Owls" for 3-4 year olds. The "Owls" room is led by an EYFS teacher, facilitating smooth transitions to Reception Class.

The day nursery emphasises exploration, nurturing children's interests and curiosity through flexible, child-led activities that prepare them for school. They boast a well-furnished, bright, and light environment with a secure outdoor play area and a wide array of resources for creative play, role play, construction, and reading.

Sessions are available in 3-hour blocks in the mornings or afternoons, with additional wraparound care options from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. The nursery accepts various government funding schemes for 2, 3, and 4-year-olds and allows parents to combine funded and private sessions.

Our ethos

We provide provision that encourages your child to explore, follow their interests and develop their curiosity. The activities we plan are flexible and follow the children's interests and needs which allow them to explore, play, and help to prepare for school life.

What it's like

Children are well cared for by kind and caring staff who are attentive to their individual needs. Children are confident and capable. Staff support them to complete various tasks independently, such as using cutlery at mealtimes. Children receive encouragement and praise, which helps them to feel valued and important. They learn to form positive friendships with their peers through receiving gentle support from staff and reminders about turn-taking and being kind. These are given consistently and in a gentle way by skilled staff. Children respond well to this and learn quickly.

Pricing & funding

Todmorden Nursery offers flexible sessions, allowing parents to mix and match. Sessions are available in 3-hour blocks for mornings and afternoons, each costing £16. Hot lunches are an additional £2.80. Wraparound care is provided via breakfast and afterschool clubs with varying prices depending on duration. A full school day costs £34.80, and a full day from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm costs £51.30.
