Whitchurch Under Fives Preschool, established in 1984, is a non-profit, committee-run charitable organisation dedicated to providing early years education for families in the BS14 postcode area. Situated adjacent to Wansdyke Primary School, the preschool operates during term-time and is OFSTED registered, accommodating a maximum of 19 children per session to ensure enhanced staff-to-child ratios.
The preschool values individualised attention and a child-centred approach to learning. The committed team of practitioners includes qualified Early Years Teachers, a SENCo, and a Designated Safeguarding Lead, all holding relevant qualifications and continuously pursuing professional development.
Each child is assigned a key person who supports their learning journey, documented in a learning diary shared with families to encourage parental contribution. The preschool's vision centres on celebrating every child's individuality, fostering confidence, self-esteem, and positive learning attitudes in a friendly, safe, and happy environment, preparing them for school and promoting effective communication.

Inclusion & environment
The manager and staff have attended training in line with what their children need, such as supporting children's communication and language. This has enabled staff to offer activities specifically aimed at improving any possible speech and language delay they highlight in children. This means gaps in children's development are closing steadily.
Outdoors, children climb and balance and have an area to run up and down to check what happens to their bodies when they are physically active. They use various tools and mark-making equipment to strengthen their hand muscles in readiness for early writing.
