About this day nursery

Mama Bear's Pre-School Whitchurch was designed with children aged three months to three years in mind. The nursery has thoughtfully created a home-like atmosphere where children feel safe, comforted, and encouraged to explore independently.

It is rooted in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, focusing on the crucial first three years of a child's development. The approach emphasises warm, responsive relationships and engaging play experiences to foster communication, physical development, and personal, social, and emotional growth, laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Experienced practitioners prioritise individualised care, utilising gentle sensory play and early language development activities. The nursery provides a secure and stimulating environment, strong key-person relationships for emotional well-being, early social experiences to build confidence and curiosity, and play-based learning aligned with EYFS guidance.

The goal is to ensure children achieve, belong, and thrive as they embark on their learning journey, with parents supported throughout.

What it's like

Children enter the pre-school happily and quickly find activities that interest them, leading their own play through the well-designed curriculum. They show curiosity about nature, learning to treat bugs with respect, and are encouraged to remember previous learning. Children enjoy being physically active and develop good emotional literacy.

Leaders and managers ensure multi-agency working when required, sharing information and implementing procedures efficiently to meet children's individual needs. This includes working with special educational needs partners and other professionals, such as speech and language therapists. The needs of children are carefully considered when spending additional funding, such as developing a sensory area.

Outdoor space

Children enjoy being physically active, and there are lots of opportunities for them to play outside. They climb confidently and jump, with both feet, on the soft-play cubes.
