Catterick Garrison Preschool Group operates two nurseries, White Rabbit and Yellow Ribbon, both dedicated to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children. They understand the crucial developmental period of early years, noting that 80% of brain development occurs by age three.

The preschool group emphasises a holistic approach to learning, where play is central to embedding meaningful lessons and encouraging exploration through senses and movement. They are experienced in supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), working closely with parents and other agencies to tailor learning methods.

Recognising the transient nature of armed forces families, the group is committed to making transitions smooth and maintaining strong communication with parents, even those at a distance. Their programmes include extensive outdoor play opportunities, promoting physical development and sensory exploration.

Creative learning is fostered through music, dance, art, and crafts. Imaginative play is encouraged with a rich supply of small world toys and blocks, guided by experienced Early Years Educators who enhance practice through frameworks like Early Excellence audits and the Preschool Alliance.

White Rabbit Preschool is located on Hipswell Road West and La Basse Road in Catterick Garrison, while Yellow Ribbon Preschool is situated at Claro Barracks in Ripon. The group is a registered charity, committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable groups.

Our ethos

Catterick Garrison Pre-school Groups (CGPG) understand the importance of young children needing to feel safe and secure in order to learn. We provide familiarity and repeated play through a holistic environment so that play, and learning is embedded and meaningful. We appreciate that happy children are happy learners.

What it's like

Staff use information from parents and their own observations to plan experiences. Children are highly motivated and eager to join activities, such as group times where they learn to take turns and discuss the date, embedding mathematics into their learning. Children gain respect for people and the community through visitors and walks, learning about different jobs and visiting places like supermarkets and the library.

Pricing & funding

The nursery requires a deposit upon registration. Additional hours are billed in advance at an hourly rate, and late pick-ups without prior notice are penalised on a per-minute basis.
