About this day nursery

Willand Pre-School, established in 1965 and located in its current purpose-built facility since 2007, fosters a play-based learning environment where children are encouraged to explore and develop at their own pace. The preschool strongly believes in child-initiated activities to enhance development, offering a rich variety of toys, resources, and activities across both indoor and outdoor spaces, all aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.

They utilise Tapestry, an online learning journey platform, to document children's progress through photos, observations, and comments, allowing parents secure access and the opportunity to contribute to their child's digital journal. In addition to preschool care for children aged 2 and above, Willand Pre-School also provides after-school and breakfast clubs for children up to 11 years old, as well as holiday clubs during all school breaks except Christmas.

They maintain close ties with the local primary school to help children transition smoothly into school life. The preschool operates 50 weeks a year, closing only for two weeks during the Christmas period.

Our ethos

Willand Pre-School champions a play-based, child-initiated learning environment where children explore and develop holistically, all within the framework of the Early Years Foundation Stage. The pre-school documents progress through an online learning journal, fostering parental involvement and ensuring smooth transitions to primary school.

Very busy, and was chaotic at first. Intimidating for very young children starting. Better organised now. Staff friendly and responsive to my children's needs. Holiday club is well run.
