About this day nursery

Woodlands Day Nursery in Barnet delivers exceptional care and education for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. The nursery operates from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm, Monday to Friday, offering a fully inclusive service.

Their curriculum aligns with EYFS principles, with activities led by highly trained staff. A standout feature is the extensive outdoor area, purpose-built to ignite children's imaginations, providing daily access to age-appropriate activities like a bug shed and a playhouse.

As an eco-nursery and Green Flag Award holder, Woodlands is dedicated to sustainability and environmental education, involving children in a year-round "green" curriculum that includes recycling, gardening, and nature exploration. Fees cover all consumables such as formula milk, nappies, wipes, sun cream, and freshly prepared, nutritionally balanced meals and snacks.

The nursery also incorporates unique programmes like Sing and Sign and Boogie Mites sessions for all age groups. Parents benefit from free access to the "childbase@home" website and app, which offers a range of bespoke books, online experiences, and workshops from industry professionals on topics like SEND, behaviour management, first aid, and speech & language.

The nursery emphasises strong parent-colleague partnerships, facilitating regular discussions about a child's progress and development both at home and at nursery. They utilise the Parentzone app for updates and uphold rigorous health and safety standards, reinforced by a dedicated Health and Safety Officer and an engaging programme featuring "Harry" the hippo.

Healthy eating is a core tenet, with meals viewed as social experiences that foster independence and good manners. The nursery follows the Eco-Schools programme, promoting environmental consciousness and has achieved Green Flag status.

The nursery is structured into age-specific rooms: Caterpillars for the youngest children, Ladybirds and Bumblebees focusing on language, social, and physical development, and Preschool which prepares children for school through the "Ready, Steady, Grow" programme, including phonics and structured learning.
