About this day nursery

Woodstock House Day Nursery, established in 2019, is a full-day nursery located in a 400-year-old renovated farmhouse within the Kent Science Park in Sittingbourne. The nursery offers year-round care for babies through to pre-school children, operating 51 weeks a year, Monday to Friday, from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, closing only for Bank Holidays and during the Christmas-New Year period.

Drawing on over two decades of childcare experience, the team, led by Claire, prioritises strong relationships with families, aiming to provide high-quality care and stimulating learning experiences where children are encouraged to create, imagine, and feel a sense of belonging. The unique rural setting provides a secure environment and extensive outdoor learning opportunities, which are central to the nursery's ethos, promoting children's health, well-being, and happiness through engagement with nature.

The curriculum is inspired by the children and their families, guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage and Development Matters, focusing on individual needs and fostering confidence, independence, and a love for exploration within a welcoming and homely atmosphere.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff have high expectations for all children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Additional funding is used to purchase specialist equipment to ensure that the environment is fully inclusive. Leaders have a secure understanding of the needs of children with SEND and work exceptionally well with other professionals, making swift referrals to secure funding and access specialist support, and implementing targeted interventions.

Outdoor space

Children have outstanding opportunities to develop their physical skills inside and outside across the setting. For instance, children run freely and climb outside in the garden as they learn to negotiate space safely. Children develop a clear understanding of how to keep themselves safe.

EAL / language support

Children who speak English as an additional language are remarkably well supported. The environment is extremely well planned to ensure that they have access to resources in their home language, with staff regularly sharing nursery rhymes and books in various languages and using key words from home and flash cards to support communication skills.
