What it's like to attend

• Children who attend regularly generally settle quickly on arrival.
• Most children feel safe and secure and form caring bonds with staff.
• Staff know children's individual needs, including backgrounds and home languages.
• Children benefit from some group story and singing times to promote language skills.
• Staff identify what they need to do to support children with additional needs, such as seeking advice from professionals and using visual communication cards.
• The safeguarding standards are met at this setting.

• 1Not all children, particularly those facing learning barriers, make the expected progress.
• 2The learning environment for babies and younger toddlers is not fully considered, and furniture placement does not encourage early walking skills. The large open space may seem unfamiliar and unsettling for some new, younger children.
• 3Children do not always experience a consistently ambitious curriculum. Pre-school children may not be encouraged to be fully independent in tasks like managing their coats, with staff sometimes completing tasks children could do themselves.
• 4Staff's management of routines is sometimes inconsistent, with younger children occasionally left without meaningful interactions or activities.
• 5Leaders do not fully consider the organisation of new children starting, which can result in several unsettled children at once.
• 6The baby room environment is not always calm, with loud music sometimes played alongside crying children, affecting their sense of security. The space for youngest children is large and open, not helping all children feel fully at ease.
• 7Staff do not consistently provide teaching and interactions that support all children's learning. Strategies for children with learning barriers are not yet fully embedded.
• 8Not all staff have sufficient understanding of their roles and responsibilities, leading to times when children's care and learning needs are not met optimally.
