Woven Nursery, situated in Henley-on-Thames, provides childcare for children aged 1 to 4 years, operating year-round from 08:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday. Established in 2024, the nursery adopts both EYFS and Montessori curriculum approaches.
The setting prioritises inclusive care, with staff aware of children's individual needs, including those with English as an additional language. There’s a particular strength in supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, as some new staff are well-qualified and experienced in this area.
Leaders are actively seeking external professional support and guidance, and staff are trained in the graduated approach, with plans to implement visual communication pictures in the pre-school room. While children generally settle quickly and form caring bonds, the nursery is actively working to improve the environment for babies to ensure it is consistently calm and settled, and to better support early walking skills and overall emotional wellbeing for all children.
Pre-school children benefit from outdoor play and enjoy listening to stories, encouraging their listening skills.
Our ethos
Woven Nursery is inspired by Montessori and Reggio Emilia principles, aiming to foster a love of learning by encouraging independence and exploration in a free-flow, mixed-age setting. This approach develops the whole child, building self-esteem through social, intellectual, and decision-making skills.
What it's like
Children who attend regularly generally settle quickly. Most children feel safe and secure and form caring bonds with staff. However, the environment for babies is not always calm and settled, and the large open space may seem unfamiliar to them.
