YMCA Day Nursery, located in North Shields, caters to 72 children aged 0-5 years, providing a nurturing and stimulating environment. The nursery is committed to offering a high-quality, inclusive early years experience, adhering to legal space requirements set by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
They offer a blend of government-funded and privately paid sessions, with a minimum booking requirement of two days per week to support continuity of care. As part of YMCA North Tyneside, a charity dedicated to community strengthening since 1879, all excess profits from nursery fees are reinvested to support homeless young people, local children, and vital outreach programmes.
The nursery's admissions process is designed to be fair and transparent, prioritising factors such as place availability, sibling attendance, and the ability to meet a child's welfare needs. While providing a warm, safe, and secure setting, YMCA Day Nursery aims to foster happiness, enthusiasm, and individuality in each child, helping them to reach their full potential.
They emphasise learning through play and social interactions, with dedicated areas for babies (0-2 years), toddlers (2-3 years), and pre-schoolers (4-5 years) offering various engaging activities.

Inclusion & environment
The manager and staff work hard to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. They liaise with other professionals and parents to put plans in place to support children to reach their full potential. Achievable targets are set to promote the children's ongoing care and progression in their development.
Children thoroughly enjoy exploring the outdoor area. They enthusiastically dig in the soil and delight in squirting water from bottles, and are keen to water the tomato plants to help them grow. Pre-school children enjoy making big marks with chalk on the blackboard in the garden.
My little boy has been attending YMCA since he was 9 months old and started in the baby room, he is now 2.5 years old and in the toddler room. The girls in the toddler room are brilliant, there will never be enough words to say how grateful I am to them all for the love and care they show my little boy. His key worker is Morgan and she is just amazing, she is so supportive with everything, my little boy needs a little extra support on doing day to day activities and Morgan is always there to support Brody every step of the way, I honestly don't know what myself or Brody would do without Morgan. I'm so thankful to all of the staff at YMCA for the support given, and the management team for being so flexible, understanding and supportive with changes needed to suit my little boys needs! They always go above and beyond to ensure my son is happy!
Read on GoogleMy 15 month old daughter absolutely loves it here. Everyday she gets so excited to go into nursery and barely even notices I’m gone. The staff are all so lovely and they really take the time to get to know your child. They update me every time I pick her up about what she’s been up to that day and what she’s had to eat. My daughter is a very social and happy toddler which I honestly think Nursery has played a massive part in this! I would recommend YMCA day nursery to anyone looking for childcare!! X
Read on GoogleMy son started here earlier in the year. He came on leaps and bounds within a couple of weeks. His key worker was lovely and informative. The other staff are always so welcoming. Even though my son left in July for primary school the YMCA day nursery will always hold a special place for both of us. Many happy memories and he made some lovely friends here.
