About this day nursery

Young Tots Nursery, located in Lincoln, offers childcare for children aged 1 to 4 years. Open Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm, the nursery operates all year round, closing only for one week in August and during the Christmas period.

The nursery was last inspected by Ofsted on 8th April 2024 and received an overall rating of Good, maintaining its previous rating. The curriculum is thoughtfully sequenced to support children's learning and encourage independence, with staff guiding even the youngest children to pour their own drinks and older children to safely spread butter on toast.

Children are supported in developing communication and language skills through activities like singing nursery rhymes and engaging in conversations, which helps prepare them for school. The nursery places a strong emphasis on children's emotional well-being, helping them to understand and express their feelings.

Staff also focus on teaching children about personal safety, including road safety with visits from police officers. Early intervention is a key strength for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, with staff collaborating with professionals and parents to create individualised strategies.

Outdoor learning is integrated into the daily routine; for instance, staff use descriptive language when children observe spiders in the garden, and children learn about safe movement outdoors, understanding the need for "walking feet" under canopies.

My son is leaving this establishment to start school this month and my daughter is in the baby room. I cannot recommend this nursery highly enough. After my son’s previous nursery closing, we had to look for an alternative setting. Young tots came highly recommended to us and after looking round, we knew immediately it was the right place for our children. The setting is so clean with so many engaging pieces of equipment for the children to play with and on! The outside space is wonderful, with the canopy providing shade from the sun, allowing the children to still enjoy time outdoors even on warm days. The baby room staff are wonderful- very attentive to all our needs and our daughter absolutely loves spending time here. They offer a range of activities for the children to enjoy from messy play to baking and creating beautiful pictures to bring home. The outside baby space is separate to the older children, allowing them more age related toys to enjoy. The older children’s area is wonderfully set out with many role play areas. The staff are so kind and friendly. With our son changing nurseries at the age of 3, we did worry if he would settle however everyone was so welcoming and it soon felt like he had always been there. The staff offer opportunities for parents to go into the nursery for mothers/Father’s Day and for various events throughout the year. It’s been wonderful to watch our son in singing performances and to enjoy playing games after. We really will miss him attending this setting, it really is so wonderful. Worth more than 5 stars!!! 🌟

It has saddened me for a while now to see this nursery reviewed so badly, so this morning I thought I’d share my view in the hope that it may contribute even a little to the recognition that they actually deserve. Young Tots is absolutely brilliant. I viewed a few establishments before choosing Young Tots, but as my family and I walked around to view the nursery, I knew it was the right setting for my child. The outside space is a wonderland of knowledge, learning and play for both the older children and the babies. It’s really well thought out, fun and secure. Inside the space for the older children is open, which allows older children and younger ones to interact, play with and learn from one another. My baby loves talking to the older children, separated by a gate and able to familiarise with her future classmates and setting when she graduates. The baby zone is really comfortable and inviting, and when I’m collecting I often see her still in the throws of play. I cannot express just how much my child is thriving here. The staff are attentive and the learning is visible every day, even with the smallest of things. I am so proud of her, and grateful to them, for seeing her thrive there. She loves the staff, her friends and drop off is an absolute breeze. When she first started, she was naturally wary, but their kindness and empathy helped her to feel secure. When we have questions or concerns, we are listened to, treated with that same warmth and, as parents, we cannot thank them enough. Young Tots absolutely deserve 5*, and I would recommend a visit to any new parents looking for a childcare placement for their child.
