ABC Day Nursery, nestled in a converted barn in Cullompton, has been a cherished part of the community since 2007 under the stewardship of Sue and Phil Proffitt. The nursery is dedicated to fostering a love for learning through exploration and play within a natural and calming environment.

They accommodate babies, toddlers, and preschool children, each group benefiting from dedicated rooms and adjoining outdoor play areas, promoting free flow play throughout the day. A strong emphasis is placed on outdoor learning, with staff trained to facilitate safe tool usage and risk assessment.

The nursery's manager is Forest School trained, ensuring regular outdoor sessions. They also pride themselves on their Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) support, with a manager holding an NVQ 3 in SEND in the early years, providing comprehensive training for staff and support for families.

The nursery focuses on nurturing children's mental health and wellbeing through various activities, stories, and physical play, encouraging them to express their feelings.

What it's like

Staff have very nurturing relationships with children and know them well, using observations to plan activities that support their development and interests. The curriculum is ambitious and prepares children for the next stage of education; children are well behaved, independent in tasks such as preparing snack, and are happy and content.
