Acorn Early Years Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable organisation dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood care and education. They operate numerous nurseries, sessional preschools, and forest schools across Milton Keynes, Northamptonshire, and Bedfordshire.
Central to their philosophy is a "children first" approach, emphasising an ethic of care, responsive relationships, and nurturing environments that foster social and emotional well-being. Acorn strives to be a leader in the early childhood sector, particularly in outdoor play and learning, and is committed to continuous staff development through ongoing training and action research.
They champion an ethical, innovative, and sustainable model, with a focus on healthy eating, locally sourced food, and green practices, including growing their own produce. Inclusion & environment
Staff identify children who may need extra support to reach their full potential and plan how to close gaps and help them catch up with their peers.
The outdoor provision, especially the 'Nature Kindergarten', is a strength; staff teach children about the natural world and how to manage risks. Children spend prolonged periods in the Nature Kindergarten where they run, climb, explore and learn to hold and use tools safely.
