About this day nursery

Bubbles Nurseries, registered in 2015, is a childcare setting for children aged 0-4 years, located in Eltham, London. 30pm, Monday to Friday, for 51 weeks of the year, closing only between Christmas and New Year.

The nursery has a capacity for 45 children and currently has 55 children on roll. The provision has 17 staff members, with 10 holding relevant childcare qualifications at level 2 or above.

While it currently "Requires improvement" as per its latest Ofsted inspection on 1st July 2025, leaders are actively working on addressing challenges such as staff recruitment to minimise impact on children's care and learning, showing a clear vision for what they want children to learn. The setting effectively uses additional funding to support children from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), and maintains effective partnerships with parents.

Leaders are particularly commended for their prompt identification of SEND and the implementation of support plans, working closely with external agencies and parents to offer tailored assistance. The nursery also fosters positive relationships between staff and children, with effective safeguarding arrangements in place.

Our ethos

Our Vision: To create and maintain warm and family feel nurseries that consistently provide exceptional standards of care and education for every child. To maintain committed, enthusiastic and skilled management and staff teams who have a passion and clear goal of providing the best opportunities for our children. To ensure a culture of parent partnership is embedded and plays an integral part in all aspects of nursery life. Our Aims: Continually strive to create a warm, welcoming, and nurturing environment in which children feel physically and emotionally safe. Provide children with unique and exciting activities and experiences which promote development in all areas of learning. To focus on nurturing and developing children’s individual talents inherent in each child which in turn allows them to develop their own self-confidence. To instil in children a lifetime love of learning. Ensure all Bubbles Nurseries Staff understand the importance of taking the time to get to know all the babies, children and families. This helps to ensure a consistency in care and that parents are confident that their children feel comfortable and settled in the nursery environment. Create an environment where every child’s individual needs are identified, valued and met in order to support each child in reaching their full potential. Create an environment where children learn to care for and respect themselves and others, to be sensitive to the needs and feelings of others and to inequalities associated with race, gender and ability. To provide an outside environment that not only supports the inside learning but provides an added layer of opportunities through which children can express their love of nature and the outside world. Outside experiences enable children to learn new skills and channel their interests in a different way, opening their eyes to new possibilities. Provide every child with a key person (allocated staff member) who will become that ‘special person’ in the nursery that knows the child best and forms strong bonds. Our key people become the main contact with parents, they recognise children’s home life, achievements and interests and set meaningful and challenging activities that support babies and children to make positive steps in their development. Maintain a rigorous process of recruitment and monitoring to continually check the suitability of all staff who work with children. Ensure our Nurseries work within a framework that promotes equal opportunity regardless of religion, size, ability, gender, culture, age, sex, and disability. Support children’s health by delivering balanced, healthy, nutritional home cooked meals and snacks. Support children in developing confidence in their own abilities and self-care, from hand washing to toileting. Ensuring good hygienic practices are embedded in daily practice which ensures children learn to manage their own self-care independently. Ensure the environment is language rich and through consistent tailored interactions children become confident communicators.

What it's like

Leaders are clear about what they want children to learn and why. However, staff recruitment challenges impact curriculum implementation. Teaching and learning, particularly in the Toddler and Pre-school rooms, are not strong enough to help all children make the best possible progress.

Safeguarding effective

What it's like to attend

Leaders are clear about what they want children to learn and why. However, staff recruitment challenges impact curriculum implementation. Teaching and learning, particularly in the Toddler and Pre-school rooms, are not strong enough to help all children make the best possible progress.

Inspector highlights

  • Leaders are aware of the challenges facing the nursery and are doing what they can to minimise the impact on children's care and learning.
  • Leaders use additional funding well to help improve outcomes for children from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with SEND.
  • Partnerships with parents are effective.
  • Staff have developed positive relationships with children.
  • The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
  • The curriculum is implemented well in the Baby room.
  • Leaders and staff monitor children's progress to help them identify what they need to learn next.

Areas to develop

  • 1Improve staffing arrangements across the setting to help embed the key-person system, and to support children's learning fully.
  • 2Develop further how the curriculum is planned and implemented to give a clear focus on what children need to learn, and to further challenge children's learning, particularly in the Toddler and Pre-school rooms.
  • 3Support staff to manage transition times successfully so children engage in purposeful learning at all times.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Leaders are prompt to identify and put in support plans to help children identified as having special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). They work closely with outside agencies and parents to offer tailored support to help meet the needs of these children. Leaders are looking at ways to further train more staff to increase their knowledge on how to support children with SEND.

My daughter has attended Bubbles for the last 2+ years and she loves it. Having your child practically run into nursery every morning says it all! The staff are very helpful and caring, they also supported my daughter with her speech challenges hugely, welcoming external support and advice. I’d reccomended Bubbles without hesitation.

Bubbles has been my chosen nursery for both of my sons. My Eldest son attended in 2020 and my youngest is there now. Over the years the staff have remained friendly yet professional and have always welcomed my children with open arms. They provide fresh meals cooked on site by the nursery chef and my boys tell me the food is yummy! They celebrate a variety of different occasions/holidays at the nursery and are very inclusive of all races and religions. Bubbles offer trips out to parks, soft play and other fun and exciting places for the children. They also engage in lots of messy play, arts and crafts and have a garden with various fun things for the kids to do. I would highly recommend Bubbles for a safe, vibrant and enjoyable setting for your little one’s first learning environment.

Bubbles has been invaluable to us as a family. They give tailored focus on our child and adapt to their needs. Their flexible approach and keeping us informed is something we find a breath of fresh air. Our child has flourished and has been their best self. Most importantly she's an extremely happy child and that is to bubbles credit. They are warm and we would say are an extension of our own home which is great.

Bubbles is a fantastic nursery and my two children absolutely love it there! The staff are very welcoming and always keep me fully informed via the app, at pick up time and on the phone if needed, which is so reassuring. It didn’t take long at all for them to settle in, they’ve been attending for a year now and the go in with no problems at all! I couldn’t be happier with the care they receive! Thank you

Both my boys have been at Bubbles Nursery since they were 11 months old, and we couldn’t be happier. My oldest has just turned 3 and my youngest, 1. The staff are so lovely, caring, and supportive, and my boys absolutely love going there. It’s such a warm, welcoming place — we’re so grateful for everything they do! Couldn’t recommend them enough.
