My daughter has recently started at Cambridge Montessori Nursery and I just wanted to take the time to say what an amazing nursery this is. The staff have been unfailingly professional, kind and compassionate and have made settling in for my daughter (and for us as parents) a very calm, supportive and positive experience. I have been blown away by the attentive care that my daughter has been given. She has already tried lots of different activities and really enjoys attending nursery. Thank you to the dedicated and incredibly caring staff for making what felt like it would be a very difficult transition a really positive one for us as a family. I am really pleased that my daughter is going to nursery here.

We recently decided to move our child to another nursery, and we wanted to share our experience in a kind and honest way. Since the summer, quite a few of the certified Montessori teachers have left, and only two remain. The nursery has been hiring new, very young and non-certified staff, which means each classroom now relies heavily on one experienced main teacher. It feels like they could really benefit from having more trained Montessori teachers to support the children properly. There were also several days when there weren’t enough staff members, so the only option was to combine different age groups into one room. We never fully understood why this had to happen, as it seemed like something better management could have prevented. The outdoor garden area hasn’t been looked after very well either, and it’s starting to look a bit sad. Overall, it feels like the general care and attention the nursery used to have has slipped over time. It’s disappointing because just a year ago the nursery was a fantastic place with strong leadership. We also noticed that the website isn’t up to date—many of the teachers shown there are no longer part of the team. We genuinely hope the nursery can return to the warm, high-quality environment it once was and truly reflect the Montessori approach again.

Parents, please be aware before considering this nursery. During spring and summer 2025, the directors decided to swap all the rooms in the premises with just one day’s notice to parents (and then recently swap them back again) in order to optimise the premises to accomodate more babies and toddlers. This caused major disruption. Staff were overwhelmed by the new, inefficient, and unsafe setting, and unfortunately this led to frequent accidents being reported to parents. After repeated concerns, and even groups of parents joining together to email the directors, nothing was addressed in a timely or effective manner. As a result, the entire staff in the Nido, IC room, and administration resigned one by one. Many of the most experienced and trusted teachers have now left. Only Alex remains from what I would call the “golden age” of Montessori Cambridge (2024 and earlier). She is a dedicated and hard-working teacher, and at this point it feels as though everything is being held together solely by her tremendous efforts, wearing all the hats. Because of these serious safeguarding concerns, many families whose children were in the IC room during this period have chosen to withdraw. Parents should be extremely cautious when considering this nursery.

Our experience with Cambridge Montessori has been absolutely wonderful! From the moment we first visited, we felt very relaxed and confident with the staff, and I knew it was the perfect place for my daughter. The teachers are incredibly nurturing and attentive, and happy to engage with the my daughter. My daughter has developed so much in terms of confidence, creativity, and independence, all thanks to the diverse and stimulating Montessori method. The activities are well-balanced, ranging from the daily Montessori work cycles to outdoor activities, which our little one absolutely enjoyed. Communication with the nursery has been truly seamless. We receive regular updates each day and photograph of our child's progress on the app, which keeps us connected to her daily experiences and reassures us that she is in good hands. The environments are clean, safe, and equipped with everything needed for a child's development and enjoyment. The nursery has exceeded our expectations in every way. We highly recommend it to any parents looking for a nurturing, enriching, and joyful environment for their child's early years.

We have had both of our children attend the Montessori school and they were very happy at the nursery. Teachers and the staff are very caring, professional and responsive. They offer a very personalised approach and really get to know the children which was very important to us.
