1st Safari Day Nurseries offers a vibrant and enriching early years experience across its seven locations in Yorkshire and Greater Manchester, including Cavendish Lodge in Keighley. For two decades, this family-run business, led by directors Nick and Anthea Porter, has been committed to nurturing young minds through play, exploration, and discovery, treating each child as their own.
The nurseries create unique safari-themed learning environments designed to foster curiosity and development. They pride themselves on consistently achieving 'Good' Ofsted ratings, reflecting their high standards in early years education and care.
Parents receive daily contact sheets, providing a written record of their child's meals, activities, and developmental milestones. The nurseries cater to children from 3 months to 5+ years, offering a curriculum that encourages growth through imaginative and stimulating experiences.
1st Safari is dedicated to making early learning accessible, participating in various government funding schemes, and ensuring transparency by including meals, snacks, and all activities in their funded sessions without additional charges.

Inclusion & environment
All children make good progress, particularly children who speak English as an additional language and children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Practitioners complete thorough observations of children and use this information to identify any areas of needs at the earliest opportunity. Practitioners are trained in early intervention strategies and use visual prompts to help all children to communicate.
Children excitedly get their outdoor clothing on. They laugh and giggle as they run and jump in puddles. The inspector observed the quality of education being provided, indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact on children's learning.
My daughter Lucy started in September at 9 months and in two months she has been there she is absolutely thriving. She absolutely loves all the staff especially Donna and Tegan. She comes home so happy and busy chatting away about her day. It’s nervous finding a nursery and leaving your child but the staff have done nothing but put me at ease. I’m so happy that we have picked Cavendish lodge and I can’t wait to watch Lucy continue to thrive there.
Read on GoogleAbsolutely amazing nursery, my son has been attending since he was 9 months old, nearly 2 now and he’s come on in leaps and bounds, he loves all the staff there and really enjoys going, sometimes he doesn’t want to leave. All the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, I can’t fault them on anything, my son enjoys it so much, it’s a great place! I highly recommend Cavendish Lodge if your little one needs a nursery or Pre-School
Read on GoogleI didn't have a good experience at this school, I don't know if anyone is angry, especially the old woman who watches the children every time I drop my chid off late sometimes, and she is always angry and in a hurry, and to you Mr. Darren, you said that the school will be until January. but you said that my child was only funded for September-December and the worst thing is that none of the school's staff updated me that my child is until december 2024 only! if that is the case please return the tuition fee I paid i need a refund since my child has been funded only September-December!
Read on GoogleMy child never started they kept lying about taking her in as she was on funded 30 hours and was only interested when we said we would pay useless left without a nursery at last minute
