Cedar Grove values open communication with families, providing regular updates on their child's progress. The nursery also accepts government-funded hours for eligible families, including the extended entitlement for working parents from 9 months old, as well as universal 15 hours for 3 and 4-year-olds.

What it's like

Children arrive at the nursery happily and are welcomed by attentive staff, forming bonds with their key persons that help them feel settled and comfortable to explore. They appear content and enjoy their time, starting to develop independence in routines like managing hygiene and tidying. Children generally behave appropriately, playing collaboratively and showing kindness, and they benefit from regular outdoor play to develop physical skills. While a nurturing and welcoming environment is provided, weaknesses in the curriculum and teaching mean children are not consistently supported to achieve their full potential, but they leave at the end of the day having enjoyed positive interactions and feeling cared for.

Pricing & funding

Cedar Grove Day Nursery offers all-inclusive monthly fees, covering meals, snacks, nappies, wipes, and learning resources. They provide full and half-day sessions for children under 3 and over 3, with separate rates for non-funded, universal entitlement, and extended entitlement places. Fees are calculated based on the number of sessions per week and are spread across 51 weeks of care. Term-time only places are also available.

Good to know

  • A £50 non-refundable registration fee applies to all applications.
  • Fees are payable monthly in advance by direct debit or bank transfer on the first day of each calendar month.
  • A late collection fee will be charged if children are not collected by the end of their booked session (1:00pm or 6:30pm).
  • Fees remain payable in full during periods of absence, including holidays and sickness.
  • One month’s written notice is required to reduce sessions or withdraw a child from the nursery.
  • Funded hours cover early education only and do not include meals, consumables, or additional activities. Parents are asked to contribute voluntarily for these services.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

The curriculum, teaching and environment are not consistently effective in supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Leaders recognise the weaknesses but have not yet provided staff with training or appointed a SEND coordinator, which hampers support. However, they are working to improve this.

Outdoor space

Children benefit from daily access to outdoor play, which positively supports their physical development and overall wellbeing. The indoor and outdoor areas offer appropriate opportunities for children to build their physical development, particularly their gross motor skills.

EAL / language support

Children who speak English as an additional language are supported by staff who share their home languages, reading to children and repeating the language in English to help them understand meaning and build their English vocabulary.

We are so happy with this nursery. The staff are kind, caring and always keep us updated with everything the children are learning and doing. It’s lovely to see how much thought goes into the activities each week, and how the children are encouraged to grow in confidence and independence. Our child is always happy to go in and comes home full of stories about their day. We couldn’t ask for a more supportive and nurturing environment.

Cedar Grove is an excellent nursery. My 11-month-old son has been attending for his second week and the staff are exceptional. The nursery manager, Marion, is particularly impressive. She is highly professional and always goes above and beyond to meet the needs of the children.

An excellent new nursery which my 3 year old thoroughly enjoys. Staff are nurturing, attentive and kind. Mrs Spranklen is very professional and warm with the children. Cedar Grove is based in a modern, clean and fun new setting. I would highly recommend this nursery to prospective parents looking for a welcoming setting for their little one.

I couldn’t be happier with this nursery. My son has developed so quickly since starting here, he has even learned how to walk at just 10 months after being inspired by the older children around him, which really shows how much they encourage learning and growth. The staff are incredibly friendly and have built such a lovely, genuine relationship with my son. It gives me real peace of mind knowing he feels comfortable, happy, and cared for every day. He genuinely has so much fun there. A special mention to the chef as well, the food is amazing, and I love knowing he’s getting fresh, nutritious meals daily. The manager is very attentive and clearly takes pride in maintaining high standards. You can see that everything is well-organised, with strong policies in place to ensure the children’s safety and development. I’m so glad my son was one of the first (the OG!) to attend when it opened, it’s been amazing to see the nursery grow. I would definitely recommend it to any parent looking for a nurturing, high-quality environment for their child.
