Clever Clogs Pre-school, with locations in Hawkwell and Hockley, is dedicated to fostering the development and education of children from two to five years old. Established in 1994 and run by Mrs. Jane Duboux, the pre-school aims to create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.

The curriculum is carefully designed to follow the Early Learning Goals set by the Department for Children, Schools and Families, ensuring that each child receives individual attention with a high adult-to-child ratio and support from a dedicated key-person. Clever Clogs emphasises a "Trauma Perceptive" approach, prioritising emotional well-being through compassion, kindness, hope, connection, and a sense of belonging.

The pre-school actively involves families in their children's progress and offers opportunities for parents to participate in group activities. With secure outdoor play areas and a commitment to equality, Clever Clogs provides a supportive and fun atmosphere for young learners.

What it's like

Children arrive extremely happy and excited to start their day, exploring a well-equipped pre-school with a tremendous sense of purpose and focus. They confidently lead their own play and demonstrate excellent behaviour, showing kindness and consideration for each other. Children are also aware of keeping themselves safe, knowing rules for outdoor activities and risk assessing their own resources.
