How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are particularly well supported by highly skilled staff who use Makaton sign language. This helps children to communicate. Children are helped to make choices using visual cards. This supports them to manage feelings and behaviour. Staff are trained to identify children with delayed language skills, meaning children are identified early and families are offered help from other agencies.

Outdoor space

Children show that they love playing in the safe space of the garden. The older children chatter as they share pedal bikes, promoting their physical development and helping them to develop their communication and language skills. Younger children play outside harmoniously alongside their older friends. There is a new reading shed outdoors.

I cannot recommend this nursery enough. My daughter loves attending and always tells me about the different activities she has done throughout the day. She gets excited to see her friends and also her teachers. We have felt so welcomed since day one, the staff are an absolute credit. I love how every morning they welcome each individual child in making them feel safe and secure at the start of their day!

All 3 of my girls have been to this nursery over the years and it is just such a lovely setting. Staff care and are knowledgeable. It's a smaller nursery to others, which I feel is just perfect and gives a family feel to it. Highly recommended.. I tell everyone about it

From the moment we first visited, we were impressed by the warm, welcoming environment and the genuine care shown by all staff. Our child settled in quickly, and we’ve seen such incredible growth in their confidence, communication, and social skills. We highly recommend it to any parent looking for a nurturing, fun, and educational setting for their child. Thank you to the amazing team for giving our little one the best possible start!

My son thoroughly enjoys his time at Cottam Nursery School and has thrived since joining. All of the staff are so lovely and go above and beyond to help. Professional, approachable, friendly, caring. It's quite clear that they love their jobs, their passion shines through. I can't thank Mrs Bolton-Rigby and the team enough for their support.
