How they support every child

SEND provision

The provider has plans in place for further staff training to support younger children and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) in communication skills. However, these initiatives are still developing, meaning children with SEND and babies do not always benefit from the same rich opportunities to hear language and practise their communication skills. Staff work closely with outside agencies to provide appropriate support for children with SEND, complete training for specific physical and medical needs, and offer targeted support to parents when making educational choices. Children with SEND make progress from their starting points.

Outdoor space

Children enjoy a campfire in forest school sessions, where they carefully follow rules and staff expectations. They grow fruits and vegetables in their allotment, learning about where food comes from, and enjoy eating meals outside with friends. Children develop stamina and large muscles through walks in the local area and by climbing on exciting play equipment in the outdoor areas at nursery. The inspector observed the quality of education being provided, indoors and outdoors, and assessed its impact on children's learning.

My daughter attends mericourt nursery and absolutely loves it! She always tells me how much of a great day she's had and all the lovely things she's been doing. The staff always go above and beyond, updating us about her day, giving her cuddles when she arrives and making sure she's settled and happy. All the children are so happy when we drop off and pick up which is so nice to see! Definitely glad we chose Mericourt, every credit to the staff and thank you for looking after my girl 🩷🫶

Highly recommend this nursery! Set in a quite location with lots of outside space for the children to run around. The staff are friendly, helpful and approachable. Nothing is too much trouble and they really do care about the children. Our daughter loves going in and they are always busy learning new things, especially the forest school with so much outside space for them to run and play.

Mericourt Nursery welcomed our boy in September last year, at very short notice, after OFSTED had closed his previous one. We visited lots of local nurseries but the moment we visited Mericourt, we knew it was the right place for our boy. The staff are amazing, so loving, caring and nurturing. They all take the time to build relationships with the children and parents alike. They have done so much to support our child and we can't thank them enough. The opportunities at Mericourt are above and beyond those at other local nurseries- forest schools, gardening, trips, activity days, parent workshops are just a few to name! The setting itself is welcoming with plenty of outdoor space. We are gutted we didn't know about Mericourt any sooner as he is soon to leave ready for school but all staff have prepared him and continue to prepare him for his learning journey!

What a Wonderful Nursery. My 2 Year old attends there. The rooms are so bright, clean and spacious. There are plenty of resources to choose from and they are all at the children's height. The area is now and quiet and completely safe. When I go to pick her up, she is always smiling, jumping up and down. They have put my mind at ease. My daughter has Autism. They have already started working with other professionals to help my daughter. The staff are lovely, knowledgeable and kind. The management team are always on hand to help. I love the fact that the Nursery employ a Male Manager, which is very nice to see. Well done everybody at the Mericourt Nursery. I would recommend the nursery to anyone.
