With a history spanning over 40 years, the preschool has grown from offering a few sessions a week to providing full-day care for five days, alongside optional summer holiday sessions.

The playgroup focuses on fostering independence, self-confidence, and self-esteem through engaging activities and encouraging free expression. Committed to high-quality care and education for pre-school aged children, East Coker Preschool works closely with parents, whom they consider primary educators.

They support each child’s development at their own pace, utilising a key worker system and promoting learning through exploration, discovery, and creative play. The preschool operates under the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, prioritising safeguarding and ensuring a supportive, inclusive, and diverse setting that benefits the local community.

What it's like

Children receive a warm welcome from staff who provide close support to help less settled children feel secure. They move freely between indoor playrooms and the garden, lead their own play, use their imaginations and learn to cooperate, while staff deliver a balanced curriculum and model positive behaviour.

Pricing & funding

The playgroup charges an hourly rate based on age bands for two-year-olds and three-to-four-year-olds. An optional snack fee is charged unless parents choose to provide their own. Summer holiday sessions are offered subject to demand, and standard fees are payable regardless of attendance.
