Englefield Green Montessori School, established in 2021, provides a warm and nurturing environment for children aged 2 to 4 years old. 30pm during term-time, the nursery received a "Good" rating from Ofsted in April 2024.
Children thrive in this setting, separating well from parents and engaging in immersive play. Staff serve as excellent role models, fostering good behaviour and turn-taking.
Strong bonds between children and their key persons allow for tailored learning opportunities, with regular observations and assessments informing activities that build on existing skills. The curriculum places a strong emphasis on developing an understanding of the world around them, notably through woodland walks in the local area where children learn about local flora and fauna, igniting their curiosity and appreciation for nature.
The nursery offers comprehensive support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). A knowledgeable special educational needs coordinator works closely with parents and other professionals to create targeted support plans, ensuring an inclusive environment where all children are valued and understood.
Partnerships with parents are a significant strength, with daily updates, parents' evenings, newsletters, and an online app facilitating regular communication about children's care and progress. Parents appreciate the guidance provided on extending learning at home.
Staff actively promote communication and language development through storytelling and consistent use of Makaton sign language, helping children to become confident communicators. The dedicated manager and staff have developed an ambitious curriculum, successfully weaving mathematics throughout activities and nurturing children's independence and understanding of a healthy lifestyle from an early age.
