Explorers Aveley, established in 2020, is a welcoming childcare setting for children aged 0-4 years, open all year round from Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. The dedicated staff, having formed good relationships with the children, ensure they feel safe and secure, fostering a positive attitude towards learning.

The nursery provides a language-rich environment, benefiting all children, including those who speak English as an additional language, and staff effectively use sign language with younger children to enhance communication. Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are very well supported, with staff consistently partnering with other professionals and undertaking relevant training to ensure good progress.

The curriculum is based on children's interests and developmental needs, acknowledging the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on their development, and includes daily mindfulness sessions. Children are offered a wealth of experiences to broaden their knowledge, including regular outings within the local community such as litter-picking walks in local woodlands and visits to the market for fresh produce, promoting an understanding of the world around them.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff consistently work in partnership with other professionals, and children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are very well supported. Staff undertake relevant training to ensure effective support is provided for children and families, to enable them to make good progress in their learning.

Outdoor space

Staff read to children with excitement in the garden, exposing them to a range of stories and promoting a love for literature. Children are taken on litter-picking walks to help look after their local woodlands.
