Explorers Day Nursery, spearheaded by the mother-daughter duo Rose and Vicky, offers a nurturing and stimulating environment for children in Wells. With Rose contributing 30 years of childcare expertise and Vicky bringing fresh, managerial experience, the nursery prioritises each child's well-being and development.
The setting is designed to encourage confidence and independence through individualised and group learning. Children are grouped by age into 'Crawlers and Climbers' (0-2 years), 'Adventurers' (2-3 years), and 'Pioneers' (3-4 years), each with dedicated learning spaces.
The nursery embraces an open-plan, free-flow approach, allowing children to explore various areas and facilitating interaction between siblings. This design helps children become familiar with their surroundings, peers, and staff, ensuring a smooth transition as they grow.
The outdoor area is thoughtfully planned with a baby zone, a home area with raised planting beds, and a 'Daredevil Corner' for climbing adventures. The nursery operates 50 weeks a year, closing for specific periods in August and over Christmas/New Year, with no charges during these closures.

Inclusion & environment
The special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) shares information with primary schools for children who may need more support. This enables children to settle well in the next stage of their education.
Staff use the outdoor area to teach children about planting, growing and harvesting and to develop children's physical skills. Older children use the bike track to develop physical skills and to learn about road safety.
