Pilton Pre-school, established in 1966 as Pilton Playgroup, is located in the charming village of Pilton, Somerset, making it easily accessible for families in Glastonbury, West Pennard, North Wootton, and Shepton Mallet. The preschool operates within the Methodist Chapel rooms and is a charity-run organisation, managed by a dedicated team of staff and a voluntary committee of parents and carers.

Their central philosophy revolves around the belief that every child is unique, special, and full of potential, aiming to foster confidence, creativity, critical thinking, compassion, character, and community in each child. The preschool strives to cultivate positive attitudes, well-being, and a love for lifelong learning, ensuring children have fun while developing into confident, capable learners.

Pilton Pre-school maintains strong community ties and links with local schools, providing a nurturing introduction to learning outside the family environment. The setting is registered with Ofsted, complying with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS 2012) statutory requirements, and is also a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance, staying current with advancements in child education and care.

The preschool boasts extensive resources and equipment, both purpose-built and recycled, to support all areas of EYFS learning. They emphasise healthy, active lifestyles and are proud of their excellent private outdoor space, encouraging children to embrace the outdoors, stay active, and engage with their community.

In June 2023, Pilton Pre-school achieved an 'Outstanding' rating in its latest Ofsted inspection.

In following our aims we hope that children at Pilton Pre-school will develop a positive attitude towards themselves and others; develop a sense of well-being and develop positive dispositions to lifelong learning. Most importantly we want children to have lots of fun as they fulfil their potential and become confident, capable learners.
