Established in 1979 in the village hall, the pre-school provides a blend of child-led, structured, and free-flow activities within a spacious setting, including an astro-turfed garden for outdoor play in most weather conditions.

Our ethos

Our aim is to give our children the skills they will need in life; determination, kindness and curiosity. We will achieve this by creating an encompassing environment through a mix of child-led, structured and free-flow activities. Determination: By giving our children first-hand experiences rooted in purposeful play, we nurture their desire to make sense of the world. We support our children’s can-do attitude by encouraging them to get messy, ask questions and explore by trial and error. Kindness: By creating a warm family atmosphere, our children flourish as they feel confident. Our children then develop a sense of pride in themselves, positive attitudes to each other, their learning, self – motivation, confidence and responsibility. Our children learn to respect our diverse community by giving them time to share their thoughts, creativity and ideas. Curiosity: Our children are encouraged to explore, question and enjoy their learning. Our children are nurtured and supported to grow into active learners. We inspire them to learn by engaging them in fun, creative play in a happy and secure environment. We help nurture well -rounded individuals who are well prepared for an exciting future on the next stage of their educational journey.

Wow what can I say Folksworth Pre-School is amazing! My little girl started at Easter and I was a nervous and very worried Mummy but I can honestly say it’s been the best decision I made, Sophie has settled in so well and that is all thanks to the brilliant staff! Their knowledge and understanding of the children and their needs is excellent. The resources and activities they have out each day are great and really promote learning through play. All the staff are always smiling and happy to listen and there to help. This is a great Pre-School!!
