The latest Ofsted inspection, on 22nd February 2023, rated the overall effectiveness as 'Good'. Children are welcomed into a friendly and warm atmosphere where staff build strong relationships with families, ensuring children feel safe and supported.

The pre-school benefits from a well-established key-person system, which helps to extend children's learning in line with their interests. Staff use high-quality interactions and teaching techniques, including rich back-and-forth conversations and modelling new words, to inspire and engage children, fostering strong communication skills and vocabulary development.

For children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), staff take prompt action if difficulties or delays are noticed, liaising sensitively with parents, agreeing on plans and strategies, and referring to outside professionals for specialist support when necessary, to ensure all children achieve their best possible outcomes. The pre-school fosters a strong sense of belonging, and children benefit from a curriculum that incorporates their interests, such as learning about recycling after showing an interest in refuse collectors.

What it's like

Children arrive at the pre-school happy, confident and ready to learn. Staff get to know children and families very well, which contributes to a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Children are respected by staff, who value what they have to say, and make very good progress.
