Gingerbread Corner, a charitable organisation which opened its doors in 1976, provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for children in Croydon. Initially established as Europe's first after-school care scheme, it expanded in 1984 to include care for under-fives and can now accommodate nearly 200 children daily.
The nursery caters to children aged three months to 11 years, including those with disabilities, offering a safe and fun learning experience. Facilities include a soft play room, sensory room and garden, four dedicated nursery rooms, and an adventure playground.
Children enjoy homemade meals that cater to various dietary needs. As a registered charity, Gingerbread Corner offers a sliding scale of discounts based on household income, with additional reductions for siblings, military personnel, NHS staff, and emergency workers.

Inclusion & environment
Staff support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) well. Staff regularly communicate with each other and with parents. If staff have any concerns about a child's learning, they are confident in planning their next steps in development effectively.
Each room has access to outdoor space, and children can make choices between meaningful activities to improve their gross motor skills. Staff encourage children to work with a range of resources, such as manipulative toys and mark-making materials, so that children use their fine motor skills continuously.
Best nursery ever! I had a very bad experience with the first nursery my son went to, when we arrived at gingerbread within the first week my son loved it!!!! It was so nice to leave him in the morning smiling and sure he will have a good time! The staff is amazing and very friendly. Kids have so many toys to play with and all the activities are fun. I will definitely recommend gingerbread! Thank you for everything ❤️
Read on GoogleI have 4 children aged from 5 to 18 and they have all grown up in Gingerbread Corner whilst I've been at work. The staff are amazing with my children and they have a variety of rooms for the children to play in as well as an adventure playground. The staff have always been respectful and polite to me. They are also very understanding when I've needed them to be.
Read on GoogleOutstanding facilities with a sensory room, big playgrounds for the children to make the most of their time outside. The staff is really nice and caring. Our son spent 4 happy years, highly recommended for anyone looking for a nursery in Croydon, ideally located, 8min away on foot from the station.
Read on GoogleMy daughter has just started here and I am very happy with our experience so far. The staff are amazing and have been very supportive. I had some initial worries about my girl not taking milk in a bottle (I am still breast feeding 15 months later :/) but they reassured me that they will try to get her to have some and if not they will offer her some fruit as an alternative. It was to my great surprise when I went in to pick her up on day four that she had drank half a cup of milk and was fast asleep. I couldn't believe my eyes and actually started crying. My little lady had NEVER slept without boob or being tied to my mum's back at nap time - one more week of this and I am sure poor grandma was going to need physio on her back haha. Honestly, thank you, thank you, thank you for making this anxious first time mumma bear feel more comfortable (almost totally there) letting her cub go ( albeit for a few hours in the day) and for saving grandma's back!
Read on GoogleI would highly recommend Gingerbread Corner childcare!! Staff specially Kerry, Sherrgan, Anabella all are very supportive, loving and caring. My son goes to this nursery and i have seen a significant improvement in his development.
