About this day nursery

Histon Early Years Centre, known as Little Owls, provides education and childcare for children aged one to four years old. The centre aims to create a nurturing environment where children and their families feel content, secure, and respected, fostering an atmosphere of mutual trust and cooperation.

Their philosophy is rooted in the belief that children are active participants in their learning, equipped with their own theories, interpretations, and questions. This approach is inspired by Carlina Rinaldi of Reggio Emilia, emphasising the importance of listening to children.

The centre provides distinct learning environments for different age groups: Owlets for 1-2 year olds, Fledglings for 2-3 year olds, and Greenfinch, Robin, and Woodpecker rooms for 3-4 year olds. They also prioritise healthy eating, recognising its importance for future well-being, and encourage parents to engage with the nursery through various updates and policies.

The centre requires a minimum attendance of three full days per week for the well-being and continuity of the children, with priority given to full-time attendees or existing Little Owls families when allocating sessions.

Our ethos

Fantastic pre school. Lovely teachers, brilliant facilities, very clean and lots to do to keep the children engaged. My child has the best start to his education before he starts nursery at Histon & Impington school in September. Highly recommend
