Handprints Nursery, located in the charming town of Silsden on Bolton Road, offers childcare for children aged three months to eleven years old. The nursery is housed in a thoughtfully restored building, which previously served as the town's police station, providing a secure and welcoming environment.
With two levels and two enclosed outdoor areas directly accessible from the playrooms, children can engage in free-flow play regardless of the weather. Established in 2014, Handprints Nursery is dedicated to providing high-quality care and education, employing CCTV in all rooms for enhanced safeguarding.
The nursery believes in the vital connection between care and education, fostering a loving atmosphere through strong partnerships between home and nursery. They utilise the EYLOG system for recording observations, images, and media of children, enabling parents to contribute their own observations from home as well.
All staff at Handprints Nursery uphold best practices, prioritising the well-being and development of each child. The nursery collaborates with the local authority's early childhood services, undergoing annual audits, and is registered with the national Day Nursery Association and Ofsted.

Inclusion & environment
Staff support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities well. They work closely with other professionals, such as physiotherapists, to ensure that children make the progress they are capable of. For instance, staff adapt the environment so that children who need support with walking have the space they need to move around and be involved in activities. The provider uses additional funding well to provide toys and equipment that are used to help children make good progress.
Older children are confident and relish the challenges the outdoor environment presents. Staff encourage and praise them and children are keen to show off their skills. Staff give them challenges to extend their skills, such as 'stretching to the moon' when they jump.
Staff do not support children who have English as an additional language as well as possible. They do not routinely use children's home languages in the nursery, or have any discussions with parents about using home languages alongside English. Despite this, children are developing a suitable understanding of English. They follow instructions and both staff and children use physical gestures or objects to make themselves understood.
